Take a beautiful stroll directly from Mourneview Caravan Park, along a board walk through the dunes, to Murlough Beach National Nature Reserve. This beautiful beach and dunes reserve goes on for miles.

If you have kids, make sure you've got the buckets and spades, and a lot of time for digging holes or rolling down the dunes!
Alternatively bring your kites!

If your life is more sedate, go to the beach and then head for Newcastle Promenade & town centre. Take in the spectacle of the majestic Mourne Mountains rolling down to the sea - as Percy French put it.

While in Newcastle, perhaps morning coffee beckons, or ice cream at Maud's, or perhaps take your luck at one of the many amusement arcades.

The Mourne Mountains are right on your doorstep at Mourneview Caravan Park. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is visited by tens of thousands of visitors each year, and is now Northern Ireland's first proposed National Park. Slieve Donard is the highest mountain in the range, at 849 metres (2786 feet), and is a very popular daywalk for hill walkers. (If you're not a regular hillwalker, best to seek advice on clothing and the weather before trying it!) After much fundraising, the National Trust bought about 5.26 square km (1300 acres) of the Mournes, including Slieve Donard and Slieve Commedagh.
